East Cape Futures Forum to emphasise the importance of regenerative tourism and development

A new regenerative tourism and development conference will take place at Palmas de Cortez Hotel Los Barriles in Baja California Sur, Mexico, from 5-8 December 2022.

Named East Cape Futures Forum, the event will focus on kickstarting discussion, connection and co-learning about new, more regenerative and sustainable development models to be applied in the Eastern region of Baja California Sur (BCS).

Although focused on the BCS region, the organisers hope to inspire both local and international developers, investors, architects/designers, operators and leaders in the tourism and real estate businesses.

The agenda features an expo, workshops and more than 20 international and national speakers.

Topics covered will include:
• Design, location, and construction.
• Regional identity and local community integration.
• Ridge to reef: coastal dynamics and management.
• Natural resources, innovation and technologies.
• New financing and investment sources.
• Public policy and regulation: towards better planning processes.

Amy McDonald, CEO of wellness consultancy Under a Tree, will be speaking to delegates about defining wellness, its relevance to sustainability and focusing on the wellness landscape in Latin America and Mexico specifically. She’ll also cover regenerative wellness development and trends in wellness real estate and communities while highlighting best practices across the globe using case studies to illustrate.

In addition, Six Senses' head of development in America, Andrew Miele, will also share insights into how the brand’s commitment to regenerative and sustainable values has resonated with consumers and subsequently global developers.

The speaker line-up will also feature David Leventhal – the owner of Mexican eco-resort Playa Viva and co-founder of Regenerative Resorts, a global collection of like-minded eco-resorts.

All content will be recorded and available on-demand after the event finishes.

The 2022 conference will be used to generate ideas and content for the next annual conference planned for 2023.
